A pile of trouble

October 21, 2019
"Children, be obedient to your parents in all things, for this is well-pleasing to the Lord." -COLOSSIANS 3:20

When I was a young boy, my Dad took me to look at some cattle. He warned me to stay clear of the animals because they could hurt a little guy like me. “No fun!” I thought. Then I spotted a little calf. I thought, “I’m bigger than he is. He couldn’t hurt me.” But as I approached it … Bam! That “cute little calf” knocked me down right into a big pile of … well, manure! I should have obeyed my dad’s warning, but even at an early age, I thought I could ignore it and handle the situation on my own.

I’ve done that with God at times, too, and so have you. God’s warnings and boundaries are not to spoil our fun, but are for our protection. So trust and obey the Lord. It just may keep you out of a “pile of trouble.”
