Antiques and Coffee Mugs

It’s been said that children delight in what they have, teenagers in what they do and adults in what they are. So adults who delight mainly in possessions and activities have immature hearts. That doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy what we have and what we do but “delight” carries more depth than “enjoy.” Something we delight in is a treasure, while something we enjoy is an item we merely like. For example, we treasure a priceless antique but enjoy a coffee mug.

We sometimes get our priorities confused, though and end up treasuring what we ought to like and liking what we ought to treasure. How do we stay on track? Worship God – delight in Him – and ask Him to conform our desires to His will. If we will do that, we will soon discover He is our greatest treasure!
