Cold as an Iceberg

“For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax-gatherers do the same?”
Matthew 5:46

The Titanic was an engineering marvel: the largest, fastest cruise ship ever built. Her designers boasted that she was unsinkable. But on her maiden voyage, the great ship encountered an iceberg, sending her to the bottom of the sea and claiming over 2,000 lives. Sometimes we meet “iceberg” people. In fact, they are some of the toughest people we encounter. Nothing seems to break through their frosty exterior. And if we’re honest, we have to confess they’re hard to love. But the Lord calls us to love not only those who love us, but also those who don’t. How do we do that?

The iceberg that sank the Titanic eventually reached warmer waters and melted away. When we love the unlovable with the warm and steady love of Christ, amazing things can happen! The coldest of hearts can melt!
