Energy in-energy out

September 24, 2018
So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure. - PHILIPPIANS 2:12-13

You have to “work in” before you can “work out.” Energy “out” in the form of good works is in proportion to energy “in.”

Nan Eidson was stricken with tuberculosis as a young woman, early in the 20th century. She was sent to a sanatorium to die, but instead, got well. Grateful, Nan ministered to other patients, and became a nurse.

But Nan’s good works went beyond the hospital. She took needy people into her home, gave away her possessions, and cared for people constantly. In her 80's, Nan still walked hospital corridors, with every step pained by arthritis. Nan poured herself out for others. Nan’s secret was that she knew the importance of receiving spiritual energy. Prayer, Bible study and worship were vital in launching her day. She got her heart filled before she emptied it in loving service. Fill your heart with prayer, bible study and worship before you empty it in loving service.

Jesus began each day in personal communion with His Father. Nothing mysteriously mystical here. His energy for public ministry was in direct proportion to the energy He took in His private moments.

TODAY’S FOCUS
Commit to reordering your day with the top priorities being communion with God and receiving His strength.
