The eclipsed heart

June 24, 2018
And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. - 2 CORINTHIANS 4:3-4

The moon has no glory of its own, and must sparkle with the sun’s radiance. When the moon lunges behind earth’s shadow, sunlight is blocked and reflected loveliness darkened.

Once, human beings shone with God’s glory, but it was lost through sin. Our hope now is to reflect the glory of Christ. The prince of darkness desires to impose his shadow over our hearts so that we do not sparkle with God’s “Sonlight.” Through its own motion, the moon traipses into the massive shadow of earth.

People also bring themselves into the state of the eclipsed heart. But there’s a big difference: The moon has no choice in the orbits that bring it behind earth’s shadow, but human beings can avoid the eclipse of the heart. The more darkness one chooses, the more darkness one has. Those who choose not to see will not see. The heart that selects the veil gets the veil. Move out of the shadows of unbelief and into God’s glorious light revealed in Jesus Christ!

TODAY’S FOCUS
Ask Jesus Christ to remove the veil of unbelief from your mind, and take the shadow of doubt off your heart.
