The Fellowship of the Burning Heart

April 12, 2018
And they said to one another, “Were not our hearts burning within us while He was speaking to us on the road, while He was explaining the Scriptures to us? – LUKE 24:32

Are you a member of the Fellowship of the Burning Heart? It began that day when two followers of Jesus were dragging themselves back to their village of Emmaus, having watched Jesus, and their hope, die on the cross. The flame of passion and confidence had been snuffed. But suddenly, He is beside them, at the table with them, breaking bread with them, teaching them the whole plan of God revealed in the Scriptures!

Whoof! The pilot light is relit. The heart-furnace is again aflame. The word for “burn” doesn’t mean merely a flashy flicker, but an all-consuming bonfire. People in The Fellowship of the Burning Heart are “enthusiastic” because they are “en (in) Theos” (God)!

If you are confident that no matter what the world deals you, Christ in you can handle it, you are a member of the Fellowship of the Burning Heart. If you rest in the fact He is the Lord of history, that whatever occurs is in His scope of vision and care, that bitter crosses are bridges to empty tombs, then the membership certificate hangs on the wall of your heart!

Today’s Focus
What is the spiritual temperature of your heart?  How high is the flame burning?  Ask God to pour on more fuel.
