The Heart’s Outlook

February 24, 2018
I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe… - EPHESIANS 1:18-19

Your outlook determines your outcome. Your outlook springs from your heart. The enlightened heart sparkles with hope. Abraham looked up at the stars and saw God. Lot looked up and saw Sodom. Lot lost everything when Sodom burned down, but by faith Abraham inherited a city made by God, eternal in the heavens (2 Corinthians 5:1). Abraham had an enlightened outlook, but Lot’s vista was dim.

Two prospectors sought a vein of gold deep in a dark mine. One searched with a candle, while the other had a brilliant lamp. The candle cast long shadows, obscuring the streak of gold in the stone wall just beyond. But the radiant lamp washed out the shadows, and caught the glimmer of gold embedded in the rock.

People with hearts enlightened by the Holy Spirit enjoy the glorious inheritance of life with God. Your outlook determines your outcome, and your outlook depends on the spiritual enlightenment of the heart.

TODAY’S FOCUS
Can you see the gold in the rock? Meditate on Romans 8:28-29, and record your thoughts on how God used past crises to shape and encourage you now.
