The meditating heart

March 11, 2018
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Thy sight, O LORD, my rock and my Redeemer. - PSALM 19:14
When you meditate, you talk to yourself. The Hebrew word for “meditate” means to “say again.” The meditating heart reads a Bible passage, then “talks it over” internally. The rabbis sang the Psalms, mystics’ journaled, and prophets talked the Word of God back to themselves. Memorizing Scripture helps meditating.

Meditating on Scripture is like the tune that lingers in your head all day. You whistle, sing and strum because your life is consumed with the song. Meditating is to have God’s Word of the day echo in every moment.

Start your day with God’s Word. Find ways to keep it before you in multiple forms. Think about the meanings and implications for you. The meditating heart is a well-nourished heart!

TODAY’S FOCUS
Open your Bible to Psalm 103.  Meditate upon and pray through the first five verses, allowing the Holy Spirit to lead you.
