Turkey sandwiches

November 29, 2018
“And he said, 'This is what I will do: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I will say to my soul, "Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years to come; take your ease, eat, drink and be merry.’ "But God said to him, ' You fool! This very night your soul is required of you; and now who will own what you have prepared?' - LUKE 12:18-20

The gobbler is stripped to the bones, a thick turkey sandwich, the aftermath of Thanksgiving, is in your hands, and your world looks pretty good. Your stomach may be full, but is your heart starving? That was the rich man’s problem. He told his heart to relax because it was full when in reality it was gaunt and hollow.

Many people want to have a strong spiritual heart, but feed constantly off the spoiling leftovers. They party and booze rather than seeking the stimulus of the Holy Spirit. The leftover-eaters take in every rotten morsel falling from the Hollywood garbage bin, and munch on literary trash.

They fill up on pork rinds and lie down satisfied only to discover their spiritual heart was so anemic it wasn’t ready for the day of judgment. Quit eating leftovers and get some healthy food in your diet—spiritually and physically.

TODAY’S FOCUS
Go through your house and get rid of the spoiled spiritual and mental leftovers, including TV and movies that satisfy your entertainment desires but leave your spiritual heart starving.
