When the Bucket Pours

May 22, 2018
"I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadesh-barnea to spy out the land, and I brought word back to him as it was in my heart.” - JOSHUA 14:7

Whatever fills your bucket is what will slosh out on others. The “bucket” of your heart will get bumped and stressed. Its contents will pour out. Fear filled the hearts of 10 of the spies Moses sent to check out the Promised Land, and fear came out. Joshua brought back to Moses what was in his heart, which was faith in God and confidence Israel could overcome whatever obstacles it faced.

I remember seeing a feisty football player run to an opponent and jerk off the guy’s helmet and throw it at him. Anger, bravado filled the heart of the man who threw the helmet, and a thoughtless action occurred that got him and his team penalized.

In 1965, New York City experienced a massive electrical blackout. Horowitz, the great concert pianist, was playing with the New York Philharmonic. Suddenly the concert hall was plunged into darkness, but Horowitz kept playing because the music was in his heart, and continued to pour out.

What sloshes out of your heart when you are kicked, jostled, pressed and stressed? Fill it with Jesus and His Word, and the fruit and works of the Spirit will gush forth!

TODAY’S FOCUS
Pray that blessing will pour out of your life on others, even those who irritate and anger you.
