Getting an hour back

October 23, 2018
Take care, brethren, lest there should be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart, that falls away from the living God. But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called "Today," lest anyone of you be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. - HEBREWS 3:12-13

If you could have back one hour of your past life, which would it be? A newspaper posed that question. One woman described her near-death agony in childbirth, and the hour she held her newborn daughter in her arms before it died. Despite all the suffering, that hour, she said, would be the one she would want to relive.

The heart that does not recognize the beauty and opportunity of the present moment becomes hardened. Time is zipping away, and its speed increases as we age. We can’t get back the past hours.

Stop and listen to the sounds of this moment. Look at the beautiful things around you right now. Consider the loveliest of thoughts in your mind at present. Focus on what God is doing in your life today. Our hearts must not be so dull and insensitive we miss the wonder of the time we have right now. We can’t get it back.

TODAY’S FOCUS
Stop pining for the past and living only for the future and embrace the blessings and joys of this present moment.
