Peace force

September 20, 2018
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. - PHILIPPIANS 4:6-7

“Peace keepers” is a familiar term in the chaotic 21st century world. A “peace force” seems a contradiction: one does not associate “peace” with “force.” Yet that’s what God promises the heart sheltered in Him.

Say you’re a pioneer living on a frontier, surrounded by fierce enemies. Your government builds a huge fort close to your spread, and garrisons well-armed soldiers there. The enemy can rage outside the walls, but inside there is no concern because the adversaries can’t get in. if you live inside the fortress, you will be at peace because you dwell in security.

God never gets uptight, anxious or panicky. He’s never surprised, worried or bummed out about anything. He dwells in a “steady-state” of peace. If you “abide” in Him, as Jesus put it in JOHN 15, you reside in His peace. The way you get this “incomprehensible” peace is to let every stress be a call to prayer, then couch your prayers in gratitude for the answers not yet seen!

TODAY’S FOCUS
List all your stressful concerns. Allow the Holy Spirit to lead you to pray for each. Thank God for the answers yet to be revealed.
