Resist the Sag

When I was a child, I remember seeing old iron beds that were firm at both ends but saggy in the middle. They were a picture of the way many people live the Christian life. They are firm in receiving Christ as Savior and going to Heaven when they die, but their life in the middle sags.

Mature Christians are firm throughout. They are solid in their commitment to Christ and confident of eternity with Him. And in the middle, in this life, they are courageous, stable, steady and firm. They know Christ overcame the world, so they don’t sag under the weight of everyday life, but operate in His peace. So make time to inspect your spiritual mattress springs. Resist the sag by spending time with the Lord and resting on the firm support that Christ has overcome the world.
