God With Us
"Now, after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, magi from the East arrived in Jerusalem, saying, ‘Where is he who has been born King of the Jews?’"Matthew 2:1-2
Herod represents those individuals who miss Christmas. When the Wise Men, following the star, visited Herod to ask where they could find Jesus, Matthew tells us that Herod was troubled. He missed the wonder of Christmas because he was too focused on maintaining the status quo and preserving his own importance. Many people today can miss Christmas because they don’t understand it.
When people say they have problems believing the Bible, often the problem has to do with Christmas. Because once you have the truth of the Incarnation right you understand that the Word became flesh, a real human baby, and dwelt among men, and that the child in the manger was God. The Incarnation proclaimed that God is with us. It is exciting. It is supernatural. It is Christmas. Don’t miss it.
