"When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, 'This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.'"Matthew 3:16-17
Our children have a special place in our hearts no one else can occupy. I have always taken great pleasure in my three sons, and now in my grandchildren and great grandchildren.
When we receive Christ, we are joined into His relationship with the Father. At His baptism, Jesus was indicating His willingness to be identified with sinners and to accept the mission of atoning for the world’s sins. At that point, the Father expressed His immense pleasure in His Son. And if you and I are one with Jesus Christ, God the Father takes the same pleasure in us as He does in His only begotten Son! This thought should lead us to worship God and accept the mission of serving Him with love and devotion.
