Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth. We will know by this that we are of the truth, and will assure our heart before Him in whatever our heart condemns us; for God is greater than our heart and knows all things. Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God…
-1 John 3:18-21
If your heart yearns to serve God and bless others, the taunting voice questioning your faith is silenced. Health insurance is important, but heart assurance is vital for our peace and joy. A lifestyle of compassion and love for people is assurance we’re in God’s family. A young man graduated from seminary, prepared to minister. His wife had put him through school. In his senior year she had a terminal illness, but kept on working until she wore out. In the weeks before graduation, she was bedridden. The student wanted her to share the special day, so she was brought to the ceremony on a cot. When he got his diploma, the young preacher descended the platform, went to the cot and kissed his wife. “I wouldn’t be here without your sacrificial love,” he said. No one questioned his love for her; the deed was proof enough. Not even your own conscience can accuse you of not loving God when you are stepping off the platform to demonstrate your love.
