Half-hearted Devotion

"Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing. I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified." NLT1 Corinthians 9:24-27
Most of us have a team we follow, and we love to see our team win a championship! Did you know God has a team, too? He is always recruiting people to join His team, and to those who do, He gives the heart of a champion.
This newly bestowed heart has championship characteristics, such as the proper balance of priorities and the practice of discipline, both physically and spiritually. God also equips His players with spiritual gifts uniquely suited for building His team, which is the church, the body of Christ. Finally, His team members are fiercely loyal, always willing to defend the team and recruit others to join. So let me ask: Are you on God’s team? If not, join today. He has the heart of a champion waiting just for you.
