“I wish I had that one over again.”
"The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning. Great is Your faithfulness." - LAMENTATIONS 3:22-23a
Lou Gehrig was one of the greatest baseball players in history. He was a gentleman in the game, and never argued balls and strikes with an umpire. On one occasion, however, after taking a pitch that was called strike 3, he had a word with the umpire before heading back to the dugout. After the game, reporters asked the umpire what Lou had said. The ump replied, “He said, ‘I wish I had that one over again.’” How many times have you and I echoed those same words, as life has thrown pitches our way that we wish we could have over again.
Our scripture assures us that, although we can’t go back, we can begin again… every day. So look for assurances of God’s unceasing lovingkindnesses and unfailing compassion today. He’s giving you and He’s giving me a much needed second chance.
