Intense desire

November 16, 2018
Brethren, my heart's desire and my prayer to God for them is for their salvation. - ROMANS 10:1

There can be no greater heart desire than the rescue of people, especially those dearest to our hearts, from the horror of eternal separation from God. To sharpen your heart’s desire, consider what it means to be lost. To exist outside the presence of God is like lungs without oxygen, eyes without light. It is to spend eternity without hope, trying always to sate the desperate thirst for which there is no water.

Paul says that Christ rescues us from the dominion of darkness. (COLOSSIANS 1:13) To be lost is to be on safari in a deep jungle where there is perpetual midnight, and where every turn in the path could lead to an unseen pit of vipers.

If our hearts grasped the horror of lostness, their passionate desire would be for the salvation of others, especially is they realize that not only does Christ rescue us from darkness, but transfers us to His own Kingdom of eternal light!

TODAY’S FOCUS
Make a list and pray daily for specific people in your circle who need Christ, beginning with your loved ones, and for opportunities to tell them about Jesus and His salvation.
