"For Ezra had set his heart to study the law of the Lord and to practice it, and to teach His statutes and ordinances in Israel."Ezra 7:10
When I give an invitation for people to come to Christ, I often say “Put up your flag for Jesus!” In our verse, the literal meaning of Ezra “setting his heart” to study the law of the Lord is that he stood his heart in a vertical position, much like that of a flagpole. The truth is we all have a life flagpole flying a banner that defines us, that let’s everyone know what we’re all about.
What can people tell about you from your flag? Your favorite sports team? Your business? Your country? Your bucket list? Would anyone see that you belong to Jesus? If not, put up your flag for Him today. We all need to make sure our flags for Jesus are waving briskly so others will see that our lives are about Christ and the work of His Kingdom.
