Humble Ourselves

"And the angel answered and said to her, 'The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy offspring shall be called the Son of God.'"Luke 1:35
The birth of Jesus was normal and natural, but His conception was abnormal and supernatural. The angel told Mary that the power of the Most High would “overshadow” her. This is the same word that is used to refer to the Shekinah glory of God in the Holy of Holies in the Temple. In other words, the womb of Mary became a Holy of Holies for that supernatural conception to take place by the Holy Spirit.
Therefore, when we sing that beautiful Christmas carol, “Silent night, Holy night, all is calm, all is bright, round yon virgin…” – we are singing about a holy, basic, beautiful, and fundamental truth as we profess our faith in the virgin birth. For nothing, said the angel to Mary, is impossible with God.
