The Melody Of Love

When I was in seminary, we lived in a little apartment that was close to the local high school. While I studied, I could sometimes hear the marching band as it practiced. If the wind was blowing in one direction, I could hear the whole band. But if the wind was blowing in the opposite direction, all I could hear was the bass drum…boom, boom, boom…even though I knew all the instruments were playing. 

A lot of people were brought up to hear only one word about the character of God: judgment, judgment. But when they began to learn more about God, they were able to hear the “melody of love” that is so beautiful – and they learned to praise God for His grace, His mercy, and His unending, sacrificial and unfathomable love for us.
