The really important stuff

August 08, 2018
And a vision appeared to Paul in the night: a certain man of Macedonia was standing and appealing to him, and saying, "Come over to Macedonia and help us." And when he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go into Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them. - ACTS 16:9-10

God’s way is always inside-out, bottom-up. Emperor Claudius sleeps on his puffy bed as the most important thing that would happen in his reign is occurring. Miles and miles away a dream-vision is shaping in the heart of a sickly Jew. On his bed, Paul sees the form of a man bidding him to come to Macedonia—Greece—with the Gospel.

From the heart of the Father to the yearning Macedonian to the heart of the willing Jew goes the call. It leads to the moment when the good news of Christ moves from the Middle East westward. The biblical view that would produce the great democracies begins its journey that night.

That’s the way the really important stuff happens in the world—from God’s heart to a yearning human heart to the willing heart of another person. Nero fiddled while Rome burned and Claudius slept while the Gospel blazed in human hearts!

TODAY’S FOCUS
