Trust God's Sovereignty
"Even the darkness is not dark to Thee, and the night is as bright as the day. Darkness and light are alike to Thee."Psalms 139:12
With all the sophisticated navigational tools we have available today, it’s hard to imagine what it must have been like for ancient explorers as they sailed the oceans. They didn’t have accurate maps. At best, they had drawings made by voyagers who would have drawn maps based on their own experiences. If they had encountered a shipwreck, or a problem at sea, they would write on the map, “There are demons here,” or “There are dragons here.”
But along came a cartographer named John Thomson who sought to replace those old drawings with maps with more accurate details. So, he would cross out “There are demons, or dragons,” and write, “Here is God…Here is God.” He believed in an omnipotent God who is sovereign over all the world. Some of us look at life like those ancient explorers. We live in fear and anger, and we go through life expecting the very worst. What a difference it makes when facing the unknown, or danger, or a storm, to remember, “Here is God.”
