Up close to the President
…and He made from one, every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation, that they should seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us… - ACTS 17:26-27
You’re invited to a State Dinner at the White House. With fanfare the President enters, and as he passes your table, leans and whispers to you, “stick around after supper tonight.” How well anybody knows the President depends on one thing, and that’s how much the President wants someone to know him.
God, however, wants everyone everywhere to know Him at His deepest, which means knowing His heart. Paul is saddened as he sees the Athenians groping to know God. After deifying everything in sight, they erect a catch-all statue to “the unknown god.” Paul tells the Greek philosophers he’s come to town especially to introduce them to the God eager for them to know Him.
Jesus knows what’s “in” a person, and God wants us to also know what’s “in” Him!
